What Size is my Dog?

  • Small dogs: typically weigh less than 24 pounds and have a shoulder height of fewer than 16 inches. Some examples of small dogs include Chihuahuas, Yorkshire Terriers, and Toy Poodles.

  • Medium dogs: usually weigh between 25 and 59 pounds and have a shoulder height of 16 to 22 inches. Some examples of medium dogs include Beagles, Labrador Retrievers, and Golden Retrievers.

  • Large dogs: typically weigh more than 60 pounds and have a shoulder height of more than 22 inches. Some examples of large dogs include German Shepherds, Great Danes, and Mastiffs.

  • XL dogs: are the largest of all dog breeds. They typically weigh more than 100 pounds and have a shoulder height of more than 27 inches. Some examples of XL dogs include English Mastiffs, Newfoundlands, and St. Bernards.

It is important to note that these are just general guidelines. There is some overlap between the sizes, and some dogs may be slightly larger or smaller than the average for their size. Ultimately, the best way to determine your dog's size is to consult with your veterinarian.
